About Me

My name is Elize van Steen and Deli-Zabeth is my food-loving creation. As long as I can remember, I have been passionate about food and cooking. Some of my earliest childhood memories are from when I would sit on the countertop and watch my granddad prepare the most exquisite meals. He talked me through every step of the process and triggered my interest to learn everything there is to know about food and cooking. It was not just my granddad who had this passion but it trickled down through the entire family. Our holidays were always based around food, where to go and what to eat. We would visit local markets and find the best seasonal produce to cook with: a habit I still have in my everyday life.

After attaining my university degree in Business Administration, I decided to follow my true passion and I attended the Ballymaloe Cookery School in Ireland: a school I chose especially for its focus on seasonal, locally produced and high quality products which I think is one of the most important aspects of cooking. In Ireland, I realized that my future had to be related to the food business. I came back to the Netherlands to do an internship at STACH Food after which I continued to work as a food concept developer in Amsterdam. On the side, I catered small events and started sharing recipes on my Instagram account ‘Deli-zabeth’ which has been growing rapidly of the past few years.

During the time that I was working as a concept developer for a large international catering company, I was in a traffic accident causing severe brain trauma. This unfortunate and life changing mishap caused me to take a step back and rethink my purpose and goals. However cooking always remained a big part of this long and intense revalidation process. Sharing my recipes and spending time in the kitchen is a great source of energy for me. Therefore, I have decided it’s time for my Deli-zabeth platform to move the next step. I’m excited to say that I will now actively share all my favorite recipes, with a focus on vegetables, on this website!
